Blazing blooms

This Hollyhock grabbed my attention as I fought my way onto my somewhat overgrown allotment this afternoon.  I took the shot for the lovely dark colour, but only noticed the flaming effect at its heart when I looked at the photo.

I suspect they explanation is that the plant is seven foot tall or more and so the camera was in fact pointing directly into the afternoon sun, but for the flower getting in its way.

A nice wee surprise and distraction and a reason to be grateful in an otherwise challenging second lockdown day.
