Framing the Fort

Fell Apart

The fishing village of Footdee (universally known as "Fittie") is one of Aberdeen's most vibrant areas. Most of the houses look on to a communal centre, and many have small (and not-so-small) outbuildings, including sheds, offices, artist's studios. It's stunning, and probably the only area of Aberdeen I'd seriously consider living in long-term. Unlike where we currently live, there's a real sense of community and there's lots of little artistic touches.

I found this one quietly poignant. In case it's not clear, it's a pair of skis encased in concrete (I chose this view to ensure the plaque was legible). I find it a wistful reminder that we need to appreciate and enjoy what we have, as we won't always have it.
