Adam House, Calne

This house is adjacent to the corner of Horsebrook, off The Green in Calne, and was so named because John and Robert Adam had connections with the house, Robert having been said to live there around 1770, when he was working on Bowood House. Adam House was also known as Pineapple House, because of the four stone pineapples adorning the facade. It was originally timber framed but was refaced with stone in 1750.

In the 1990s I used to visit some friends of mine who lived there, though I had not met them when I took this picture.
