La vida de Annie

Flying siblings

#2 son will be 21 tomorrow, and has plans for a big night out with his friends, so today was a pre-birthday family celebration. #1 daughter (in the back of the 4 seater Cherokee) bought him an hour's flying lesson as a surprise. Until we arrived at the airport flying school he was under the impression we were going paintballing, so when reality dawned he looked rather startled and uttered "oh crap". Although professing fear of heights, he coped well with controlling the take-off, most of the flight and lining up the landing before the pilot took over, at which point #1D promptly threw up in the plane's only sick bag, fortunately having to remove her microphone to facilitate this; the sound of retching in #2S's headphones may have put him off somewhat. #2D (in the front, pictured), sadly didn't get to fly, and I opted out as the pressure changes may have affected my unruptured brain aneurysm, although part of me regrets missing the experience (flying in a small plane, not 2nd brain haemorrhage at 2000 feet). He came out smiling and keen to have another go - not a cheap hobby.

A slap-up birthday late lunch followed, and this evening he headed off to the Liverpool football match courtesy of #1D again, who got front-row seats for him and her boyfriend. What a good big sister he has, eh?
