Gulls on a cafe roof...

Winter has returned - and I have to say it's getting me down. I'm fed up with sleet and snow, east winds and, most of all, dull grey skies! It was so nasty yesterday that I didn't leave the house, and couldn't even summon up the enthusiasm to find a blip indoors either. It rained continuously and then turned to snow overnight, leaving a light covering this morning.

Fortunately we had Chinese New Year to cheer us up. We've always celebrated with a Chinese meal since the boys were quite small. Quite often we've had a take-away, but this year we cooked a few dishes at home - the pepper and salt tofu wasn't an entire success but I can definitely recommend Vietnamese barbecued pork fillet with caramel sauce - sumptuous, sweet and spicy. Lizzy joined us, which made it extra special, though it was sad that Chris couldn't be with us.

We discovered that our pigeon makes an excellent burglar alarm! Lizzy stayed overnight and when she tried to go upstairs to bed, Roxy became quite agitated at having a 'stranger' in his roosting area and flew into her face three times - definitely on the attack. So trespassers beware!!

Today I've been entering Lincolnshire plant data on the computer, a rather mammoth task... Pete and I took Rosie for a walk this afternoon, but it was really unpleasantly bitter and there was very little to photograph. This line of gulls sitting on the cafe roof made me smile - poised to take advantage of any families with spare crusts who might brave the great outdoors during half-term. How many can you spot?
