Life through the lens...

By ValC

A day of two halves.

Today’s plan was to drive over to StJust. Collect pasties from M Fadden’s the butcher, and then park at Pendeen Watch. Have lunch and do a circular walk taking in Portheras Cove. A new walk for us.
I checked the weather which was sunny intervals until 1pm and the light cloud.

Driving from Penzance the mist was getting thicker. Not too bad at St. Just, but we decided to stop off at Botallack to eat lunch, and have a look at the Crown mines. One of our favourite places.
( see my Blip 8 March 2018)
The mist got thicker, as you can see in my top three photos.

So abandoned the plan for a walk, and drove back home.
Just before Penzance the mist cleared, and by the time we got home the sun had come out.

So plan B.
Drove to the Penrose estate near Helston.
Glorious blue sky all afternoon.
We walked through the woods, by Loe Pool.
( The largest natural lake in Cornwall) and down to Loe Bar.
( A wide stretch of sand separating the lake from the sea.)
It was glorious, and so peaceful.
Bottom set of photos.

The Penrose Estate is now owned by the National Trust. All 1536 acres. The largest gift made to the Trust in Cornwall.
The house however is still owned by the family.

We certainly did the right thing to come back over to the South coast.
That’s Cornwall though.
The weather from one side to the other can be completely different.

Still crowds of holiday makers down here,
Driving through Marazion we noticed all the carparks were full and another field has opened up for parking.
That was because St Michael’s Mount was open today.
It was much quieter for us yesterday as The Mount was closed.
Today we avoided the crowds completely.
