Burradoo Journal

Further to Frank’s giant magnolias in yesterday’s blip, this is the house in Concord where we lived. Concord in the 1990s was a peaceful Sydney suburb. The house was a 1920s California bungalow typical of that part of Sydney. We did some major renovations in 1995: Kate and Martha particularly liked the open log fire that we put in (extra).

The state of the lawn shows that it was a drought year.

Concord became a lot busier in the late 1990s, as preparations began for the 2000 Sydney Olympics. The Olympic site was just up the road from us. It was a wonderfully happy time in Sydney. We have just celebrated the 20th anniversary of the games, and how different the world seems now.
