...Compton Acres has often been described as one of the best ornamental gardens in the south of England, and was the embodiment of a vision conceived by Thomas William Simpson, margarine magnate, when he purchased the property, in 1920, as his seaside residence. The gardens were designed as a sequence of five individual gardens that reflected Mr Simpson's worldwide travels and interest in horticulture.

The Italian Villa forms a part of the Italian Garden and, like many of the properties that I have featured, can be hired for weddings. In addition to the Italian Garden, there is the Wooded Valley, Rock & Water Garden, Heather Garden and Japanese Garden, plus cafes, shops and a plant centre.

Today's wonderful weather is forecast to last into early next week. Yippee!
