Life in Sunny Dubai

Wow! It is SO LATE (or early) here! 2:30am!

Best viewed large.

As I said yesterday, I was going to a concert tonight and that would be my blip for Valentine's Day. What I hadn't realised was that it wasn't scheduled to start until 9:30pm and then it was for the warm-up acts local talent! The headline act - Don Moen + Friends (Lenny LeBlanc & Paul Baloche) came on stage at 11pm!!

The whole evening was quite amazing! We didn't have tickets and were going to buy them at the gate, but thanks to Gs good offices and contacts, the organiser handed us 3 free VVIP tickets while we were waiting! How amazing is that? The show was totally sold out! There must have been around 7,000 people which is a good number for Dubai.

As for the concert... don't know how many of you will have heard of these artists but they are very big in Christian circles and writers of some very popular songs (God is Good all the Time, Above All, Open the Eyes of my Heart). The title of today's journal is that of Don Moen's current album, and the picture on the top right contains lyrics from it. The song is special because it summed up last year for us both. For G - it is her breast cancer journey song; for me - going through that with her and also being unemployed for such a long time!

Everyone was handed a red heart shaped flag as they entered (there was a bit of a Valentine's theme to the evening as well), but there was one person flying a large white flag with the word "Elohim" on one side and "YHWH" on the other!! Getting VERY brave in Dubai!!!

We were treated to 2 hours of great music, praise & worship, and musicianship. It was a cold night and too many people were unprepared for the weather. Lucky us we have all our warm gear, being cold weather veterans after our month in the UK!!! Got back to my car to discover I had forgotten to lock it! Good thing about Dubai is... it is still not a big deal to do that! Phew.

Bed now calls... Apologies for not catching up with you today. I shall do it tomorrow afternoon... Hope you all had a good day and were made to feel special and loved. xx
