Change of the seasons

As one season ends, another begins. Behind the elderberries is a field newly ploughed for sowing the winter barley. I couldn't get focus on both (there's a depth of field joke here, somewhere) so the plough is in the extra.

After lunch we uprooted courgette and broad bean plants, come to the end of their season. I felt bad given that they were alive. As I put them on the compost heap I apologised and thanked them for all the produce. Happily, nobody heard me.
