First mangoes of the season....

Left at 5am for the long journey home!  The first leg was horrendous as not only are there potholes and diversions all over the place (some potholes about 30cm deep) but there had been heavy rains and the mud was everywhere!
Coming close to Chipata we noticed a house with a wall which had fallen down and the iron sheets on top were hanging off!  We thought it must have been the rains.  Then as we passed through the next village we realised that there were iron sheets lying on the roads, on top of trees - it was an awful sight - many houses had no roof left, many shops too. It seems a whirlwind had accompanied the heavy rain and many people are left with no roof on their homes and businesses!  It really was a most distressing sight.

We made good time after the Chipata road and arrived home around 5pm!  I am really tired - its been a week of driving long distances although it was great to see the work that our church is doing.

We stopped at Luangwa market to buy some dried fish for a colleague and I was excited to see and then buy the first mangoes of the season!
