River of Flowers

Big Ben at night

After a hearty breakfast at the hotel we walked in the Spring sunshine down to the Embankment and caught a ferry down to Greenwich. The market was in full swing, it had been cold on the river so we decided on an early lunch. MrD had paella and I had some spicy Lebanese lentil soup with sambosa. We were then joined by T & GeordieJ, walked down the river then had a look around the Cutty Sark. We listened to The Dualers who were entertaining the crowd with their lively reggae/ska music.

We then walked through the Greenwich Foot Tunnel under the Thames to island Gardens with the intention of going further down river by train then to cross the Thames again to ride on the Emirates Skyline cable car, sadly the train line was closed for the weekend. Plan B was to return to town. The train we were on stopped the far side of Tower Bridge so we walked to St Paul's, caught a bus, then walked from Covent Garden to Leicester Square. This is where we said goodbye to the youngsters and decided to return to the hotel for dinner.

We got as far as Embankment by tube, another line closed so we walked back to St. James's Park and this is when I took a night time shot of Big Ben!

My feet are still giving me GIP!

Hope everyone has had a lovely Saturday! The fun continues tomorrow .... x
