Celebrate

I'm in temporary accommodation - a guest in my own house - as my bedroom is in no way fit for human habitation following the little disaster. The guest bed is wound with the five-coloured cord from our wedding blessing. (Here's another example from our friends' blessing in April 2012). The happy couple keep the cord and it can be a reminder of a joyful occasion.

We have decided to make a claim for the fire on the house insurance and the insurance company appear to be most efficient and supportive. We should be able to get decorators in and also replace some of the things that were damaged.

We spent the day in the garden cutting scrap wood for the fire - for the last time. We've come to the conclusion that our time is quite valuable and we don't want to lose another day to cutting wood. From here on we'll be buying logs.

In the evening we went to Aro Ling in Bristol for a celebration of Tibetan New Year - the year of the Water Snake. It was a wonderful evening and we shared a great deal of food including some delicious Tibetan Momos. It was a fine celebration.

It's been something of a dramatic end to the old year. I hope everyone has a good year of the Water Snake.
