Agaric Party in Blean Woods

We've not visited the Nature Reserve at Blean Woods since 2011. Always said we must return. Today, we made it and couldn't have chosen a worse day for a walk in the woods. Cold, windy towards the end, very muddy in places and not the best of light for photographing the autumn leaves.

There were plenty of fungi about so today's blip is really about them. I've posted an Agaric recently, but this was a bit special. They really were this colour. We also saw a collection of King Alfred's Cakes, a fungi I'd not seen before - see extras.

In the end we covered over 8 miles through the woodlands. There was a pleasant, earthy smell to the air which reminded me of mushrooms. We certainly had more than our recommended dose of forest bathing and all that entails today.

A big chilli is on the stove for tonight....
