Robin

Victorian Christmas cards showed robins delivering letters, like miniature British postmen, who at the time wore scarlet tunics. In Ireland the spideog (Irish for robin) was associated with Christ on the cross: the bird plucked the thorns from his head and the blood for ever stained his feathers red. It was also said that he scorched his breast in the stable at Bethlehem while fanning a fire to warm the baby Jesus.
Whatever the myth this cheery chap lifted my day.
