Bald Eagle

The Slaughterhouse

This building, among the mighty oaks at Dunham Massey, was used by the gamekeepers in the C18th to hang the deer in preparation for dressing and jointing. The finest venison would then grace the table of the Earls of Warrintgton.

In the C19th it was converted into a summerhouse complete with fireplace.

We enjoyed a lovely 2 hour walk around the deer park this afternoon.
