Industrial Past

The Mill pictured is Eckersley’s, or Western Mills 1,2 and 3, built between 1884 and 1900 by the local Eckersley family.
The River Douglas, seen here rushing down an artificial slope, was diverted to provide water to the mills, and just out of picture at the top, has a right-angled left turn, which is great to see when the river is in full spate.
My ancestors worked in these mills, still just about standing, but a shadow of their former glory.
I used an App called Slow Shutter on my iPhone8, set to Long Trails at a 2sec exposure.
