Tank Trap

Lovely Autumn walk in Blean Woods this morning. Most leaves have fallen but the yellow silver birch and rich gold beech trees still sport their finery. Just where we turn through to the right there is a tank trap a survival of war and fears of invasion. This is Ancient Woodland with many Oak Trees but is also quite varied with glades of bracken, coppicing, stands of silver birch, lots of hazel and some sweet chestnut brought here by the Romans. It's managed and conserved by the Kent Woodland Trust.
