Beneath Biscay

The name's "Dora"...

... "Storm Dora"

The good news. As of today we are allowed to leave the municipality of Gijón. We can now wander the length and breadth of Asturias to get some fresh air.

The bad news is that the lifting of the perimeter coincides precisely with the arrival of some very wet and windy winter weather that's predicted to last at least a week. So we won't be taking advantage of our new found freedom this weekend.

The rate of Coronavirus infections and deaths in Asturias seems to be coming down progressively, but at a stubbornly slow pace.

In other unsurprising news, we cancelled our optimistically booked Christmas week in Lanzarote. So now it looks like we might spend Christmas at daughter C's flat in A Coruña. The state of emergency allows travel across regional borders to visit close family. At least it will be a change of scenery.

Got my flu jab today so that's something ticked off the to-do list. Will have to turn my attention to Christmas cards soon. Can't put it off much longer...

Photo taken one-handed, with a heavy shopping bad in the other hand, while dripping wet. Worth it though. The bag contained a bottle of Glenfiddich. That comes in handy when it's cold and wet outside.

p.s. Try saying "wet and windy winter weather" after a few drams.
