Blue Jay

I'm intrigued by the fact that this blue jay looks almost violet colored on its head and shoulders. Probably a trick of the morning light.

The first extra is some of this morning's blue jay crowd vying for the peanut feeder. I was standing at the window after I'd served breakfast watching about a dozen squirrels vie with at least fifteen blue jays to see who could get the most peanuts. The squirrels seemed to have the upper hand with the blue jays but also spent a lot of time chasing each other away, so they probably didn't get any more peanuts than the jays did. The second and third extras are of one of the more enterprising squirrels.
