Gulliver’s 18th Birthday!

What a year to turn 18, the UK in full national lockdown, we made the very best of it we could, I wrote to the family and friends who usually buy him something and ask for money as he wants to get more studio equipment, he’s got almost £1000 which is incredible. As well as money we bought him a casino night game which we played later in the day. Luckily his girlfriend is in our bubble so she was able to be here.
The morning started with present opening, Erin and her family gave him a pint glass with his name inscribed on it and a basket with pub items, gin, Prosecco, beer, sweets etc, she got him loads of things but the most exciting thing was an incredible new guitar pedal. Exciting delivery of balloon cluster from Emma!

Full English breakfast, all five of us sitting together as per his request which was lovely.

Morning Zoom was my dad and his wife and Erin‘s parents, Erin‘s mum Janette did an online quiz for us which was fun. My dad gets the vaccine today!

Then we went out separately for our walks.

I let the kids have a Deliveroo for lunch, disappeared upstairs to do my physio and my ukulele practice.

Unexpected socially distant visit and card and money from Kate, Tim and Charlie our neighbours.

Early evening Zoom with my sister Alexandra who is also Gulliver‘s godmother, cousin Thea and uncle John, godmother Karen and sister Lola, also grandparents Cedric and Bambi and uncle Conal, Erin made a beautiful Vegan Victoria sponge for his birthday and I bought candles so while Gulliver was upstairs we prepared all that, I got a silver tablecloth which is already stuck onto the table and confetti and I found these fabulous glasses which light up when drinks poured into them.

Max slaved in the kitchen and produced a delicious curry which was what Gulliver wanted for dinner, Gulliver found some quizzes on YouTube which we did which was fun and we listened to Records and generally lazed about, we all dressed up and we had a quick game of poker but I think everyone was knackered by then so we’ll have to do that another time.

Considering the circumstances I would say it was a Triumph.
