A Walk In The Park

Another very sunny day, and a day for a walk.

First we drove to Craigtoun Country Park, near St Andrews. The park is open 24/7 and consists of 47 acres of landscaped grounds.

All of the "attractions" are closed just now, although usually open from Spring to Autumn.

Being a Fifer, born and bred, I have visited the park many many times. I have many happy memories.

Today’s Blipfoto shows the Dutch Village which was built in 1920. When open it functioned as an open air restaurant. Restaurant may be something of a stretch.

The village is looking very sad, and requires a major renovation. Much of it is cosmetic. I understand plans are in place to recreate this unique village.

There is also another "fixerupper". This is Craigtoun Mansionhouse. (See extra). It is five years since we last visited the Park and I was disappointed to see the Mansionhouse untouched and apparently unloved.

A little research has uncovered that the building was intended to be redeveloped and turned into "fractional ownership apartments" by Koehler and Co who had already created a similar development at Hamilton Hall.

I have also managed to uncover some photographs of the interiors. They are spectacular. Hopefully, the building will be restored.

We enjoyed our walk around the gardens and plan to come back through the year to watch the gardens grow through the year.
