2015-11-22 (Day 325) Dunipace Bridge Revisited

This is the Dunipace Bridge, which spans the Riveer Carron just to the west of Falkirk.

An inscribed stone on the bridge bears the text: "Built by THOMAS GRAY Mason LESMAHAGOW And CHRISTOPHER CAIRNS Road Contractor STIRLING 1825".

According to "Denny and Dunipace – views from the past", by Margaret Ferguson (1987), a "glass bottle containing all the coins of the relm" was placed into a compartment behind the keystone of the bridge. Sadly, this was broken into and the coins stolen.

The bridge itself is now a Grade B listed building.

As you can see the foreground didn't catch the setting sun, but it did reach the trees in the background which appear to burn with the warmth of the fading remnants of their autumn gold.
