Matryoshka.
According to Wikipedia, The first Matryoshka doll, also known as Russian nested doll, was carved by Vasily Zvyozdochkin, from a design by Sergey Malyutin in 1890.
I bought these from a market stall, so I don't think they will ever have seen Russia.
