Onwards and upwards....

2246. All Manual February 20

Today’s lunch was Chicken Chow Mein and it was absolutely delicious....plus it made a total of six portions for us too!

Another busy morning wrestling with our new TV and Home Theatre system, HDMI cables through the wall and generally trying to get everything connected and working.  We decided to cut the cables through the wall as they were so tightly packed we couldn’t possibly replace them but still had to deal with the twin sound cables that were put into the wall in 2009...what a palaver it was too!  Half way through trying to do it all hubby decided that as the Home Theatre system is several years old, he would bite the bullet and buy a Sonos sound bar instead as the sound isn’t that good from the new TV (especially when we’ve been used to our Home Theatre Surround Sound).  So several hours later (and a few hundred pounds lighter!) he’s now ordered a new Sound bar and additional speakers (balked at the cost of the sub woofer - which was as much as the whole system again!).  The HDMI cables have all been removed from the wall and new ones installed but not in the wall any longer as he’s going to buy some trunking to hide them.  We did manage to get the audio cables out without damaging them as we’re either going to give our system to a relative or trade them in once the shops open again.  As the sound bar is quite big we have also had to order a new cable for the telephone so that we can move it on to the sideboard as the existing one isn’t long enough and there won’t be enough room on the unit that the sound bar will sit on.  One thing that we did realise is that the HDMI cables that were supposedly professionally installed in the wall were in fact 3m long and should have been long enough without the extension cables we put on them...but....about 1m of the actual cable was coiled up inside the wall making them seem much shorter...how silly is that?

Maybe by next week it will all be working and hubby will finally be able to relax!

Just about to go for a walk in the rain to meet my eldest step daughter and grandson for a coffee but I doubt we will walk that far as it’s expected to pour this afternoon....happy days....
