Sgwarnog: In the Field

Burn

Evidence that the widely publicised recent ban on heather burning is only a partial-ban, covering deep peat moorlands, not those with shallow peat.

It seems that Hawksworth Moor is shallow peat, as this fire was blazing through the twilight today.

So damage to the watershed, and the release of more carbon into the atmosphere will continue so that a tiny (wealthy, powerful) minority of people can continue to shoot grouse.

Not exactly the wind-down walk at the end of the day that I was hoping for.
