Friday 10 April 2009: Loch Duich

I'm glad I hiked to the top of this squelchy mountain before cooking and eating macaroni cheese and chips, and quaffing more gooseberry beer - don't think I'd have made it after. While not ideal for ascending mountains, it is a perfect menu to set you up for a bit of photoshoppery on the couch, so it all worked out in the end.

For the photogeeks... this is another stitched three-shot image, taken by shifting the 45mm tilt/shift lens into three positions horizontally. With the 5D MKII, that results in a 32 megapixel image. I've put a larger version here which does this massive view a little more justice.

Think I need to make a very large print.

Edit... three hours and a bottle of Midnight Sun later, I've produced an HDR version, using 9 images instead of the three above (3 exposures x 3 shift positions). The above is a much truer representation of the scene, but I think I prefer this one - a bit more Lord Of The Rings.
