Life in Sunny Dubai

Satwa Shop

It's been an uneventful at-home day until we ventured out in the evening - to settle up with the landlord's rep about the rent. He gets to this job in the evening, so, unfortunately, we can't do it any early than 7:30 pm. Today, we got there around 8:30 and it was heaving. Satwa is a lively and vibrant part of town and this shop with some of its ware hung on the door caught my eye.

So, we're all paid up for the rest of the year. I got to report about the two other flats on the floor we are on which were vacated by their long-term tenants in the last 15 months. They are now multiple occupancy flats which is not nice. Let's see if he keeps his word to tackle the problem. It's made worse by the fact that his own maintenance engineer has rented them.

G & I spent the day in our respective offices! The doves in the garden seem determined to build their nests on our balconies and it is a constant battle to deter them. Today, G cut out two hawks to hang outside. The one on her balcony has done the job beautifully, but my two doves seem braver and still persisted, even if just sitting on the rails! I feel bad shooing them away, but they make such a mess.
