No Stairway

50 years ago today Stairway to Heaven was played to a live audience for the first time. Apparently they were not impressed as 'it went on a bit'.

Luckily for Mr Page and the rest of Led Zeppelin, most of the rest of the world did like it and before long it was the most requested song on radio. (apparently, by the year 2,000 it had been played on radio more than 3million times, that is 44 years worth of listening).

Obviously it is marvellous but it's not my favourite Zeppelin song by a long way.

As for the tenuous connection to the picture. This is my mid 80's Fender Telecaster, whilst Page is usually seen with a double neck Gibson when he was playing 'Stairway', he did in fact record the solo on a Telecaster.
Also in the middle of the 80's Led Zeppelin reunited for Live Aid, it wasn't brilliant, they played 'Stairway'.

So there, just in case you ever get asked what sort of guitar was used for the solo in 'Stairway'.. It was a Telecaster,  brown if they want that much detail.
