Spring Ice

This year the spring ice seems particularly beautiful. It comes in many forms. Sometimes it is melting, up on the rocks or beach. Sometimes it is forming, in sheltered bays on cold nights. Sometimes it just sits there, covering a lake, or on the northern or southern sounds in town. It can be filled with air-bubbles, or metamorphed into pipe ice, transparent or opaque, rough or smooth. It can be safe to walk on, or not. A eahvy and strong block, or a fragile sculpture.
This picture, taken on a walk from Smitingen beach, is part of a flickr album, featuring the many and varied forms of ice photographed in 2021, in the Scandinavian season of spring/winter.
