tempus fugit

It was either this or nothing because I haven't been able to think of anything much else today besides the latest killing of a woman. Sarah Everard  was walking the short distance home along a busy road in South London  one evening last week when she was adducted and apparently murdered by an off-duty policeman.

A wave of horror and anger has been expressed across news and social media.

I have been wondering just how many times in my life  I have heard similar news reports: a woman missing - a search in progress - a body or remains  discovered - a man arrested (or not).

Here is Wales the last few weeks have seen a 70 year old man who killed his 67 year old wife in a fit of anger jailed for just 5 years.

And a 16 year old has been killed at her family's Chinese takeaway: a 38 year old man has been taken into custody.

Violence against women: of every age, in every circumstance, at home, at work, on holiday, in the street - it goes on and on.
