Bergerac Bricks (with Shadows)

We've arrived in Bergerac for a short birding tour starting tomorrow. It's in the Dordogne in the south of France, about 100 kilometers east of Bordeaux.

We had a good afternoon walk around the picturesque historical center. This is a wall in the courtyard of a 17th century Franciscan cloister, which now is the "Maison des Vins" (House of Wine) of Bergerac. The courtyard's bricks are every where on the city's old buildings and they are definitely hospitable to vines (though we didn't see any grapes :) The tree casting the shadow is an old Pawlownia tomentosa
in the center of the courtyard.

We changed trains in Libourne just outside Bordeaux and our local train to Bergerac stopped in St. Emilion; we passed vineyard after vineyard. The sun was wonderful, but the forecast for the week is mixed.

Edit: A great meal this evening at Quatre Vin, an absolutely top-notch restaurant here.
