This is a folding propeller it enables sailing boats to sail efficiently without the drag of a fixed blade propeller.

Under engine power centrifugal force opens the blades and normal thrust resumes.

The metal is Nickel Aluminium Bronze and today it received its final polish using old fashioned ‘Brasso’
