Quote Of The Day
"In nothing do men more nearly approach the gods than in giving health to men."
(Cicero)

This is the painting that I was working on in the extra in yesterday's blip entry. This was a memorable concert that I went to at the Portsmouth Guildhall on October 26th, 1983. Memorable enough that Gary mentioned it in his autobiography, Praying To The Aliens. Memorable because the whole band almost died as some clumsy technician(s) had neglected to earth the band's instrument. If any band member had touched any of the instruments, they would have been electrocuted. It took about one hour to fix the problem so the concert was an hour late getting started. Great show, though. Incredible stage set, with bombed out tower blocks housing the synths, and I loved the Mad Max inspired costumes. Just a shame that one (expensively hired) band member decided to lay slap bass over every single song, no matter how inappropriate. Ah well, it was my first time to see Numan perform and it was amazing.

Sadly, no official video was released of this concert, but I discovered some amateur cine footage of the Hammersmith gig.

It's Friday; it's five -to-five and it's Apocajack!
