We had an unexpected call last night telling us that today's job had been postponed and would we like our roof doing tomorrow. As the forecast was for a pretty decent day we thought that would be an excellent idea. So at nine o'clock the roofers arrived and set too.

We have wanted Tom's bedroom re-roofed for a while now. It's always cold in there, that's why it's his bedroom, and a small damp patch had appeared in one corner (the problem with flat roof extensions). So we had arranged for the old roof to be stripped off, thick insulation applied then a new roof on top. The guys did a great job, and although they made an awful mess whilst they were working, they tidied up and cleaned before leaving.

I couldn't easily, without climbing up the ladder behind them, blipped the workers, as the roof cannot actually be seen from any room in the house or from the garden. So I blipped their van as two things stood out, firstly the number plate which I thought was quite clever and secondly the state of the dashboard, which included amongst other things the two mugs I used to give them a cup of tea.

Early blip tonight as Emma is coming for tea. Spinach and ricotta cannelloni, nice!
