Upgrading My Mac Pro

Another very cold day. Very windy, although sunny.

Today, I decided to upgrade my Mac Pro manufactured  in 2010 and upgraded several times during its lifetime.

Today’s Blipfoto shows the Interior with the side panel removed to allow access. One lever unlocks the case and the whole side comes away.

Rolls Royce could not make a better job of manufacturing these cases.

The four rectangles along the top hold hard drives. These just pull out, with hard drive attached.

All of the hard drives are now SSD drives rather than spinning discs.

The System Disk was rather full and I have added a new disc of twice the size.

Literally a 10 minute job and the side panel is replaced.

I then copied all of the System Disc to the new drive.  That operation took approximately 3 hours using CCC software.

The most time consuming task was unplugging all of the attached cables to printers, external drives, Wi-fi and the screen. There are four cables just for the screen.

Much to my relief everything is working just fine. Apple are working on a new Mac Pro for next year.

This might well have been the last upgrade for this machine.
