Trafalgar Square £240..

....Wet and miserable day in London so I used the aid of a puddle take my shot. I could have gone for the obvious but I resisted, a picture of Trafalgar Square and not a column or fountain in sight (I was going to go really obscure and shoot the Canadian Embassy but I resisted although I did get some nice pictures).

The name commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar (1805), a British naval victory of the Napoleonic Wars over France.

The square consists of a terrace to the north, in front of the National Gallery (pictured). Nelson's Column (the vice admiral who commanded the British Fleet at Trafalgar) is in the centre of the square, flanked by fountains designed by Sir Edwin Lutyens in 1937-9 (the original fountains were given to the Canadian Government and now reside in Ottawa and regina).

Trafalgar Square remains London's main congregation area for national events good and bad, growing up it was always the site for New years Eve celebrations which have now moved to the south bank of the Thames but its still the best place to go, VE celebrations after WWII, demonstration point in the late 80's over apartheid (given that the South African Embassy is there) the poll tax riots in 1990, announcement of the 2012 winning Olympic bid on the 6th July 2005 although the events the next day also meant that a vigil was also held there a few days later and last but not least celebrations after beating the Aussies in the 2003 Rugby world cup and 2005 Ashes series.

So last but not least during my research yesterday I found a valuation of the monopoly board done in 2011, which re-valued the board properties and placed them in their respective order of value. Given what you now know ( I know that we haven't finished yet but give it a go), which is now the cheapest property? which has moved the most upwards most spaces? which has moved the most down most spaces? Which is now the most expensive square? (by some way)

Also just to finish thanks for the lovely comments about the blip and especially the boys yesterday, I can't take any credit for the good looks apart from their dimples.
