Music in the garden

This afternoon I went to play music in the garden of one of the band members. There were six of us, all socially distanced as the regulations allow. It was a beautifully sunny day and it was most enjoyable to sit playing tunes with friends after so many months. There was a male orange tip butterfly flying around, the first I’ve seen this year.

You might notice that the fiddle at the back is really small. It’s a replica dancing master’s fiddle. Years ago dancing masters used to lead the dancing at the same time as playing the music. They often used these small fiddles as they were easily carried as they travelled around.

S playing the fiddle at the front owns the garden. They’re both wonderful musicians.

It’s almost an hour’s journey each way and it was quite late when I got home. Just outside the village I saw five hot air balloons in the sky but there wasn’t anywhere to stop and take their photo.
