Wanderings & Witterings

Monday was a fabulous day of 'firsts' (well, at least, 'firstforawhiles').

Got a text at the weekend from one of my friends to say she had a day off on Monday (it was a local holiday in Edinburgh) and did I fancy meeting up. Since all our conversations since last August had been by telephone, Zoom and suchlike, it was (as some say) a no-brainer. The plan was to meet up in South Queensferry and go for a walk, have a coffee and just generally relax.

I decided to make a day out of it and, rather than drive through to SQ, took the train now that such luxuries are once more available to the casual traveller. We met on the train at Haymarket, got off at Dalmeny (pictured) and spent a most enjoyable meander along the coastal path towards the Dalmeny Estate and back to Queensferry along the shore.

It was wonderful to be able to meet up in person again and plans are now afoot for a get-together with our mutual friends to go walking one Saturday soon.

August seems such a long time ago and the saying "absence makes the heart grow fonder" is definitely true for me..
