Orange

My eye fell on the pattern in this orange half this morning while juicing them for the Sunday breakfast. There is so much pattern in everything ! Did you know that the colour orange was only named so after the introduction of the fruit orange in Europe in the 15th century through the trade routes with China via the Middle East, where they called the orange fruit 'naaranj' from the Sanskrit ' nāraṅga '?  That became naranja in Spanish, arancia in Italian, orange in French and English and oranje in Dutch.  Before that the colour was named as red or yellow-red !

Thanks so much for all the Abstract Thursday entries last week, you certainly made some great edits ! This coming week we're in May and it's the first Thursday of the new month, so as usual on the first one there is no theme and you're free to enter any kind of abstract you want as long as it's taken/made on that day ! The tag will be AT306.

Here's the list of five special edits:
FotoPlay           an edit like a multicoloured Egyptian sarcophagus !
OldTimer          a supermarket bag in a super spin
evolybab          a  diamond painting transformed into colourful straw art
cassnett          a  kaleidoscopic edit
Kimb                a  wonderful pattern result
Well done to them and well done to all other entrants !

Thanks very much for the kind comments and stars for yesterday's Silly Saturday Blip !
