Formby Point

There was roast pork for lunch and the tide was low so we walked out to see if we could get close to the wrecks. Close, but not close enough - we need a lower low tide. This is the remains of the old lifeboat station which was demolished in 1965 having been used as a cafe since the station closed in 1918. Before that there had been a lifeboat on this site since at least 1776, this first such service in Britain at the time.
