Castle Rock in early morning light

The clouds were interesting this morning. Also, there was a vapour trail running 180 degrees across the sky, so it must have been calm high up. I didn't have a sufficiently wide angled lens to photograph it, though. A little southerly cloud was creeping over the ridges on either side of Castle Rock when I headed down from the top of the Mt Britten Reserve and took this photograph.

I also took a few shots of the helicopter buzzing around the road works below the gondola. It was there last week as well, but I haven't been able to work out what it is carrying. It seems that material is being carried up from the valley, rather than rocks being taken down. The summit road below the gondola has been blocked by rock fall since the earthquake, and we don't yet know when it will re-open. It does seem that work is being done on the road now.
