Bird In Flight

I had been photographing a bare patch of bark on this willow which interested me, but the light on it was rather flat. However, moving around the trunk, I found its silhouette rather interesting and I rather like the pale peachy light this evening.

I positioned the sun just out of frame which brought the dynamic range within the scope of my camera, but I was keen to include the crooked branch in the profile. Of course the normally green leaves are rendered as dark shapes and even though I lifted the shadows a touch, I am enjoying the contrast in this image.

Catching the bird flying across the frame was a bit of fortune.
