North Merchie Cemetery

(At the going down of the sun)

I'd some spare time at the end of the day and took a stroll into North Merchiston Cemetery. I was particularly taken by a stone near the entrance, which said, In Loving Memory of My Dear Son, 2nd Lieut. D.Kennedy, 1st Gordon Highlanders, Killed in Action in France. 30th August 1918.
It was the bit, my Dear Son, that choked me a bit. We will remember them, indeed. Back home, I did some googling and found he was actually buried at Douchy-Les-Ayette British Cemetery on the afternoon of 4th September 1918.
What else? The Huhnes! Nuff said. Aye. And I got a nice new bright yellow lifebuoy for the boat. And a wind direction indicator. Useful, eh?
