Ruusupaviljonki

Having my holiday in Finland. Today we took a trip to Aulanko Park here in Hämeenlinna. I blipped an old pavilion sleeping it`s winter sleep before the arrival of summer tourists.

The Pavilion of the Rose Valley is one of the original buildings in the English style park of Aulanko, built in the years 1883-1910 by Hugo Standertskjöld. Standertskjöld was one of the richest people in Finland (Grand Duchy of Finland until the year 1917) during his lifetime (1844-1931). In the area of Aulanko Park, Standertskjöld also built the first zoo and the first private elementary school in Finland. Hugo Standertskjöld was a man of new inventions, he owned the first Rolls Royce and the first telephone in Finland. It is said that before 1920`s, his phone number was simply 1.

The Pavilion of the Rose Valley was named after the rose garden surrounding it. Unfortunately the ground wasn`t suitable for the roses so it vanished as the years went by. The pavilion is situated next an English style, artificial pond, one of the many achievements of Hugo Standertskjöld. Nowadays it is surrounded by a dark forest
