If you can't beat them...

Rodgersia aesculifolia

Saturday means out at the Lodge prepping for the next guests.  This also means other plants to try to blip.  The cut leaf black Elder is just coming into flower, nice and pink.  One day I must be brave enough to take some to make Elderflower cordial and see if it turns out pink.

However I manage to resist the Elder as this Rodgersia caught my eye.  I have never known a common name for Rodgersia.   The second half of the name (the species name) means Chestnut foliage, because of the shape of the leaves being very similar to chestnut leaves.

There is a spot at the bottom of the bank round the Lodge where the water gathers.  Rodgersia likes damp conditions so it is thriving in the spot we have chosen.
