Shades of brown

The image is part of the inside of the base of a palm leaf.

It is a three quarter circular tube and when attached to the plant, fits snugly around the stem. It is a fair size, and the inside has the most amazing shades of brown, rust, yellow and red.

At the other end it carries the more well known leaves, - a favourite to blip against a setting sun.
However, this base does not come from the palm tree of the link - it comes from one slightly different and smaller.

And on a very positive note:

Early last night we had our first real downpour for many many months. It lasted for quite some time, enough to wash the dust off the leaves and to really give the arid soil a good soaking.

Unfortunately the water usage will be restricted as from Monday, as much more rain will be needed to raise the dam's level.

We are very thankful for the rain that fell and feel positive that the gardens and plants will recover to show some of its former glory. As temperatures have turned cooler with the approaching winter, evaporation is curbed to some extent.

I would like to extend a special welcome to the new blipper, CHALLENGE,; may the blip experience be equally enriching and wonderful to you!
