the day it rained

Firstly I have to thank everyone that gave such positive feedback to the puffins yesterday. It is so rewarding to see your photo in #1 spot, thank you. I do intend to reply to the comments but as we arrived home late last night and followed by a busy day today catching up before a hectic week and another trip stating at the end of the week ! You know what its like when you get back from hols
On Sunday however we did get back onto Skomer and walked the other half of the island and unfortunately it rained shortly after we started walking and didn't abate until we returned to the boat landing, soaked!. It did however give us a contrasting view of the island. On the quieter half of the island we saw a lot more diverse wildlife including pipits, linnet, wheatear, oystercatchers, rabbit and more but not the shot eared owl we were looking for. We also witnessed the different behaviour of the puffins in the different weather conditions. There were far fewer flights and less general movement from them, Clearly catching sand eels was harder for them and th flight paths they took were totally different. It all added up to a very interesting day and an indication on how the life on the islandd has to adapt in variable weather.
