Purple poppy

Odd sort of day today.

I spent a few hours doing something I didn't know how to at work which worked actually quite well in the end. We can't bill the client for all the time, but we can bill them for something and I've now got documented proof it works.

Today was stage three of Le Tour de France, which is in our department - but not near us. While we have the building work we've only got IPTV, so to watch the race live on France.tv isn't possible as it consumes far too much bandwidth for me to carry on working, so instead we streamed the ITV4 feed from the UK, but as that uses fewer pixels it doesn't overload the Internet connection, so I can carry on working okay. So the live image left our Department and into the France.tv network, then out to the international syndication system, then to ITV, then to my box in the UK and then back to our house, almost where the picture started.....! And the Manx Missile won the stage too!

Apparently some blokes kicking a bag of air around also had a good day, though booing the othersides National Anthem is a bit below the belt.

Today's rather late blip is the inside of a poppy that opened up sometime today, and has already lost a petal.... It's probably another opium poppy that has seeded itself at random in our garden, we had some last year, but non on that spot this year, they are elsewhere. For once it's even the right theme for the day too, it's actually purple!
