Desert Squirrel

Lots to choose from today. We drove to Long Valley Ridge Road from Ranfurly, and the biked to the Serpentine Church. This tiny building is no longer operational as a church; in fact it was never a successful enterprise as it is so remote, and it was always difficult to get a minister. It was build for the gold miners who seemed to prefer what the local hotel had on offer.

There is a 4WD track all the way, but it is rocky and fairly steep in places, so it made for an interesting bike ride. The photo here is taken from where we started our ride; I didn't take the big camera with me. There is a wide, muddy creek just before the church so we left our bikes on the other side and hopped over the fence to find a narrower place to cross. Great lunch spot.
